Airport passenger numbers are up 5.6%

Airport passenger numbers are up 5.6% year-on-year at Southwest Florida International Airport, the latest figures show.

In October 2018, there were 569,553 passengers travelling through the Fort Myers airport, down 2% on October 2017.

Delta Air Lines carried 119,860 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers – the most of any airline. American (98,408), Southwest (91,966), JetBlue (75,693) and also United (64,125) follow.

Southwest Florida International Airport had 5,379 aircraft operations, up 0.3% on October 2017.

Page Field saw 9,167 operations. This is a 34.5% increase from October 2017. The airfield is south of Fort Myers and Lee County Port Authority also owns it.

In addition, slightly more than 2.7 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in October 2018.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 8.8 million passengers in 2017 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
